Elder Squeak

Elder Squeak is the senior-most navigator and the respected matriarch of the Mist-Whisker community in Drift-Haven. A relative of the more famous (and abrasive) Captain Squeak, the Elder is a mouse of profound patience and wisdom. She has spent her long life studying the complex interplay between the tides of the Boundary Ocean and the magical currents of the Shrouded Boughs.

Elder Squeak resides in the Captain’s Hull, where she serves as the primary judge and mediator for the sailing community. She is the one who decides which shipwrecks are safe to scavenge and which must be left to the Mist-Stalkers. Her knowledge of the root-labyrinth is second to none, and she is often sought out by younger captains for her ability to "read the mist" and predict incoming storms.

She is a firm believer in the sanctity of the Mother-Tree and the traditional ways of the Mist-Whiskers, often serving as a spiritual counter-balance to the more mercantile interests of Market-Master Pip.

Secret Motivation: Elder Squeak is secretly a former member of the Mist-Weaver Coven. She left the order decades ago after a disagreement with High Shaman Kaelis over the use of "Aether-Siphons." She still possesses a deep understanding of fog-magic and uses it quietly to protect the haven from sea-monsters.

Adventure Hook: Elder Squeak has noticed that the "Tidal Heartbeat" of the Boughs is out of sync. she believes that a group of Gilded Corsairs has established a base in a forbidden grotto and is using aether-engines to disrupt the natural currents. She hires the party to investigate the grotto and disable the engines.
