Ascension Of The Matriarch

Ascension Of The Matriarch

Ascension of the Matriarch

The transformation of Sylas Moonsong from a refugee leader to the eternal Matriarch of Lemmion was not a single event, but a bloody and calculated rise that spanned decades.

The Founding of Lemmion (245 AW)

Upon discovering the valley that would become Lemmion, Sylas did not simply invite the elves in. She declared the land "Sacred and Bound." She required every survivor to swear a blood-oath to the forest and to her. Those who refused were cast back into the Wastes. This harsh beginning established the isolationist and strictly hierarchical nature of the enclave.

The Council of Thorns

Initially, Lemmion was governed by a council of elders from the Seven Tribes. However, Sylas viewed their debates as a weakness in a world that sought to devour them. Through a series of political maneuvers—and some say, through the subtle use of mind-altering spores from the forest—she dismantled the council. By 300 AW, she was declared the "First Matriarch," the voice of the forest and the soul of the people.

The Rite of the Eternal Blossom

To solidify her rule and her immortality, Sylas performed the Rite of the Eternal Blossom. She linked her own life force to the nascent Heart of the World-Tree. This granted her unnatural longevity and the ability to perceive everything that happened within the canopy of Lemmion. She ceased being just an elf; she became a living extension of the enclave’s ecosystem.

Establishing the Doctrine of Isolation

Sylas’s ascension was built on fear—fear of the outside world, fear of the "short-lived" races, and fear of the arcane corruption that had destroyed their ancestors. She codified the laws of Lemmion, which strictly prohibited any contact with outsiders without her express permission. To enforce this, she began the formation of her elite shadow-guard.

Historical Milestones

  • The Proclamation of Silence (260 AW): All communication with the Eastern Continent's human settlements was officially severed.
  • The Purge of the Sky-Watchers: A faction of elves who wished to rebuild the floating cities was "removed" from the enclave; Sylas claimed they chose to return to the Wastes.
  • The Coronation of the Moon and Leaf (312 AW): Sylas is officially crowned with a circlet of living wood that never fades.
