The Deep Mines

Location: Steamfort, Northern Continent

The Deep Mines are the industrial lifeblood and the greatest hazard of Steamfort. Plunging miles beneath the surface of the Northern Continent, this massive subterranean network is where the dwarves extract the raw Aether-crystals and iron ore that power their civilization.

The environment is hellish: the air is thick with toxic aether-dust (leading to the dreaded "Iron Lung"), the heat is sweltering, and the sheer weight of the rock above creates a crushing, claustrophobic atmosphere.

The mines are largely operated by heavily exploited indentured workers, desperate scavengers, and massive, soulless Excavation Automatons. The deepest shafts often breach ancient, forgotten ruins of the First Brood or underground lakes of volatile liquid mana, making cave-ins and explosions a daily occurrence.
