Early Life Age Of Ruin

Early Life Age Of Ruin

Early Life: The Age of Ruin

Born in the flickering shadows of the final days of the Elven Empire of Aethelgard, Sylas Moonsong’s first memories were not of the shimmering spires her people once called home, but of the choking ash and violet lightning of the Age of Ruin.

The Fall of Aethelgard

When the Mana Wastes first tore open, Sylas was a mere child of fifty years. She saw the great floating cities collapse like burnt parchment. Her family, minor nobles of the Moonsong line, fled into the deep woods of the Eastern Continent, pursued by the warped monstrosities birthed from the magical fallout.

Survival in the Ashen Wilds

For two centuries, Sylas lived as a scavenger. While other elves fell into despair or turned on one another, she learned the harsh language of the broken land. She discovered that the trees still spoke, though their voices were distorted by the arcane rot. It was during these dark years that she developed her signature "Soul-Binding" magic—a way to anchor her spirit to the living world to resist the corrupting influence of the Wastes.

The Vision of the Verdant Sanctuary

During the height of the Great Blight, Sylas claimed to have received a vision from the ancient spirits of the forest. They showed her a valley hidden by mist and magic, where the earth still breathed pure air. This vision would become her obsession, leading her to gather the first "Lost Remnants"—the group of survivors who would eventually found the enclave of Lemmion.

Key Events

  • The Sunder of 12AR: Sylas loses her parents to a mana-storm; she assumes leadership of her sibling-group.
  • The Trial of the Whispering Glade: Sylas survives three days in a corrupted grove, emerging with her hair turned bone-white and her eyes glowing with a faint, eternal emerald light.
  • The Gathering of the Seven Tribes: Sylas uses her burgeoning magic to protect seven disparate groups of refugees, earning their initial, tentative loyalty.
