Harbinger Malakor

Once known as Scribe Malakor, a brilliant but bitter archivist for the Grand Arcane Bank, Malakor was irrevocably changed when his "Memory Engine" malfunctioned. Rather than broadcasting his memories to the city, the machine pierced the veil between Aethervale and the deep Void, drawing in a malevolent, cosmic consciousness that fused with his mind. Now, Harbinger Malakor is a twisted reflection of his former self, his physical form distorted by dark energy and crackling with anti-Aether.

He now operates in the shadows of the ruins beneath Kigum, leading a cult of Void Gazers who worship the emptiness between the stars. Malakor believes that the Aether is a corrupting influence on the world and that only by returning everything to the silent, perfect order of the Void can Aethervale be saved.

Secret Motivation: Malakor still retains fragmented memories of the Bank's darkest secrets. He is using these secrets to blackmail powerful nobles into funding the construction of a massive Void Portal, intending to plunge the entire sky-city into darkness.

Adventure Hook: People in the lower districts of Kigum are waking up with missing memories. The players are hired to investigate, leading them to Malakor's underground sanctum where he is extracting memories to fuel his dark portal.
