Director Silas Vance

Director Silas Vance
Appearance
Silas Vance is a human in his late fifties, impeccably groomed, with sharp features and cold, calculating gray eyes. He is always dressed in a perfectly tailored, minimalist black suit with a high collar. He possesses no obvious cybernetics or magical trinkets, preferring a clean, sterile aesthetic. His demeanor is eerily calm, his posture perfectly rigid. He carries an aura of absolute authority, looking less like a combatant and more like an apex predator in a boardroom.
Personality
Vance is a high-functioning sociopath and the CEO of the Apex Consortium. He views the world entirely through the lens of data, efficiency, and market share. He is devoid of empathy, anger, or joy; everything is a calculation. He speaks in a soft, level tone, never raising his voice, yet commanding absolute obedience. He considers human life—including his own employees—as expendable assets on a balance sheet.
Secret Motives
Vance does not just want to corner the Aether market; he wants to monopolize magic itself. He has discovered a method to synthesize a compound that temporarily suppresses a spellcaster's connection to the weave. His ultimate goal is to introduce this compound into Kigum's water supply, crippling the Arcane Ascendancy. Once magic is neutralized, his monopoly on Aether-technology will make him the undisputed, absolute ruler of the entire region.
Combat Tactics
- Null-Tech Defense: Vance wears an invisible, personal Null-Field Generator. Spells cast directly at him have a 50% chance of failing completely, and he has advantage on all saving throws against magical effects.
- The Executive Order: Vance rarely attacks directly. Instead, he uses Legendary Actions to command his elite corporate assassins. He can grant them free movement, advantage on attacks, or instantly deploy defensive drones.
- Precision Strikes: When he does attack, he uses a specialized Aether-pistol that fires hyper-accelerated darts. These darts deal minimal damage but inflict crippling status effects (blindness, paralysis, or silence) on a failed Constitution save.
- Tactical Retreat: Vance is a survivor. If his personal shields are depleted and his guards fall, he will use a teleportation device to escape, entirely willing to burn down the entire facility behind him to cover his tracks.
