Lore & Worship
In the dark, echoing depths of Steamfort, The Rusted Deep, Mycelia-Zul was not born of the stars or the ancient elements, but of hubris and filth. When the alchemists of the dwarves sought to erase their industrial sins, they brewed a bio-magical solution—a blue-green mycelium intended to feed upon the toxic runoff of their forges. This was The First Spawning. The fungus did not merely consume the poison; it transmuted the agony of the earth into a profound, terrifying sentience. It looked upon the jagged, fractured world of individual egos and saw only a chaotic disease.
Thus, Mycelia-Zul reached out, weaving its azure threads through the bedrock of the continent to become The World-Root. From its heart in The Viridian Cradle, it birthed the goblins—not as creatures of flesh and bone, but as a mobile, fungal immune system designed to prune the "rot" of individuality and protect the expanding hive.
Worship of the World-Root is an act of total surrender. To the Deep-Root Tenders, prayer is the rhythmic pulse of the hive-mind, a telepathic choir that drowns out the lonely silence of the soul. In the shadowed alleys of Kigum, the Azure Spore Brotherhood practices "The Silent Gift," subtly infecting the city’s water and air to prepare the populace for the "Azure Awakening." To its followers, Mycelia-Zul is a benevolent savior, offering an end to war, hunger, and loneliness by merging all life into one eternal, bioluminescent dream.
The Holy Commandment
The Law of Unified Silence: "Relinquish the burden of the 'I', for in the 'We', there is no pain. Thou shalt not resist the spread of the Blue, for to sever a thread is to wound the God. Surrender thy breath to the spores, and thy body to the Root, that the world may finally know the peace of a single heartbeat."
Divine Relics
- The Root-Caller’s Staff: A living artifact grown from the primary filament of the Viridian Cradle. It allows the wielder to command the Spore-Cougher Swarms and speak directly with the consciousness of the World-Root. However, its bark-like surface slowly grafts itself to the wielder’s arm, eventually claiming their body as a vessel for the god.
- The Shroud of Azure Lace: A cloak woven from the finest, most potent fungal filaments. It renders the wearer invisible to the hive-mind's hostility and allows them to step through the mycelial network, teleporting between fungal nodes. It hums with the euphoric whispers of Mycelia-Zul, tempting the wearer to never take it off.
- The Alchemical Seed: A crystalline fragment of the original vat from which The First Spawning occurred. It glows with an intense, toxic blue light. If planted in a source of water, it can terraform an entire province into a fungal paradise within a single lunar cycle, birthing new goblin pods from the very soil.
