Lore & Origin
A hollowed-out seed pod filled with various fungal spores used for defense or utility. The Spore-Bomb is a primary tactical tool for the Muridae, particularly those living at the root-level of The Shrouded Boughs. It consists of a dried seed pod filled with a specific mixture of forest spores and a small alchemical primer. When thrown, the pod shatters, releasing a dense cloud of spores that can have a variety of effects.
Varieties
When you acquire or craft a spore-bomb, choose one of the following types:
- 1. Blinding-Mist (Standard): When thrown at a point within 30 feet, it creates a 10-foot radius cloud of thick, white spores. The area is heavily obscured for 1 minute or until a strong wind disperses it.
- 2. Paralyzing-Pollen: When it shatters, each creature within a 5-foot radius must succeed on a DC 13 Constitution save or be Restrained for 1 round as its joints stiffen.
- 3. Glowing-Spores: Realeses a cloud of bioluminescent spores. Each creature in a 10-foot radius must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity save or be coated in glowing dust. For 1 minute, the creature cannot benefit from being invisible and any attack roll against it has advantage if the attacker can see it.
Properties
- One-Time Use: The pod is destroyed upon use.
- Craftable: A character with a Poisoner’s Kit or Herbalism Kit can craft a Spore-Bomb using 5gp worth of forest materials and 1 hour of work.
