Iron-Wood Harpoon

Iron-Wood Harpoon

Iron-Wood Harpoon

Weapon (martial, spear), common

The Iron-Wood Harpoon is a heavy-duty weapon and tool used by the Acorn Guard and the Drift-Watch of The Shrouded Boughs. These harpoons are carved from the densest sections of the trees in The Iron-Wood Grove and are then treated with multiple layers of golden beetle-resin to increase their durability and water-resistance. The tip is usually made of a large, sharpened tooth from a sea-monster or a piece of scavenged iron.

Properties

Thrown (range 20/60): This weapon can be thrown to make a ranged attack.

Heavy, Piercing: Due to its weight and design, the harpoon deals an additional 1d4 piercing damage when used against Large or larger creatures.

Attached Line: Many iron-wood harpoons are equipped with a 50-foot length of kelp-rope. When you hit a creature with a thrown harpoon, you can use a bonus action to attempt to pull the creature up to 10 feet toward you (DC 13 Strength save to resist).

Arboreal Tool: The harpoon is exceptionally strong. It can be used as a climbing aid, granting advantage on Athletics checks made to climb the trunks of large trees.
