The Cinder Catastrophe at Mount Ignis

Background & Objective

Mount Ignis, the sacred home of the Fire Giant clans, was supposed to be stable during the "Trial of Cinders" rite of passage. However, an unnatural eruption has shattered the mountain. Aether-infused lava is flooding the vents, and elementals are growing to gargantuan sizes. The party, present as neutral observers or protectors, must save the trapped giant youth and uncover the cause of the eruption before the mountain collapses entirely.

Key NPCs & Motivations

  • Jarl Throm-Ka: The leader of the Fire Giants. He is a warrior-king who is too proud to ask for help but is losing his people to the elemental fury.
  • Shaman Vor'gath: A radical giant who believes the eruption is a "cleansing fire" sent by Ignis-Kaan. He is secretly fueling the disaster to summon an elemental avatar.

The Setting: Mount Ignis

  • The Throne of Ash: A massive stone platform overlooking the vents, currently surrounded by rivers of rapid-flowing, magically charged lava.
  • The Vent-Walk Ledges: Narrow, crumbling walkways where the giant youth are trapped, being pelted by Aether-charged ash and lightning.
  • The Cinder-Gate: A crack in the mountain's core where Vor'gath is performing his ritual, surrounded by a swirling vortex of fire and shadow.

Encounters & Branching Paths

  • The Magma Rescue (Challenge): Navigating the crumbling ledges to save the giant youth before they are consumed by the rising lava.
  • The Steamfort Sabotage (Investigation): Finding "Steamfort Detonators" near the vents. Was the eruption a deliberate attack by the Ironclad Vanguard, or is it a frame job?
  • The Elemental Siege (Combat): Defending the giant encampment against a "Magma Monolith"—a gargantuan elemental fueled by the mountain’s rage.
  • The Shaman’s Reckoning (Combat/Social): Confronting Vor'gath at the Cinder-Gate. The party must either stop his ritual by force or convince the mountain’s spirit to reject him.

Narrative Outcomes & Loot

  • Success: The eruption is contained. The giants survive, and Jarl Throm-Ka offers a rare (if tense) alliance and the secrets of giant-crafting.
  • Failure: Mount Ignis explodes. The giant clans are scattered, and a permanent "Cinder-Cloud" covers the Northern Peaks, plunging the region into an eternal volcanic winter.
  • Loot: Cinder-Forged Blade (a weapon that deals extra fire and radiant damage), Jarl’s Belt of Giant Strength, and Pure Aether-Crystal Shards (blasted from the mountain’s core).
