The Undermart

The Undermart
The Undermart is not a single building, but a sprawling, semi-permanent marketplace located at the largest intersection of the Deep-Strands, directly beneath the capital of the Eastern Continent. It is the beating heart of the subterranean black market, a place where anything can be bought or sold for the right price—and where the Sub-Terran Accord conveniently looks the other way.
The market is a chaotic mix of kobold ingenuity and surface-world scrap. Stalls are built into the walls of the tunnels, constructed from a patchwork of Aether-glass, reclaimed timber, and rusted metal plates. The air is a thick soup of cooking smells, ozone, and the scent of exotic spices from across the globe.
Proprietor: Krik the Smuggler-King oversees the market with a mixture of charm and ruthless efficiency. He doesn't own every stall, but he takes a "protection fee" from everyone who trades here.
Available Goods:
- Illicit Aether-Tech: Modified boosters, silenced engines, and "cracked" Aether-meters that hide consumption from the Accord.
- Surface Artifacts: Stolen relics from Kigum or high-precision tools from Steamfort.
- Subterran Rarities: Bioluminescent spores, refined ores, and meat from exotic deep-earth creatures.
- Information: Krik's network of "tunnel-rats" provides the most up-to-date (and expensive) intel on surface politics and military movements.
Atmosphere: The Undermart is always dimly lit, with the only illumination coming from glowing fungi and the occasional sputtering Aether-lamp. The noise is constant—a cacophony of dozens of languages being haggled in hushed tones.
