The Sub-Terran Accord

The Sub-Terran Accord
The Sub-Terran Accord is a highly organized society of kobolds that has transitioned from simple cave-dwellers to advanced subterranean engineers and custodians of the world's hidden depths. While surface-dwellers often dismiss kobolds as pests, the Accord operates with a level of precision and technological sophistication that rivals the Steam Wrights Consortium.
Philosophy and Goals
The Accord believes in the "Sovereignty of the Depths." They view themselves as the rightful owners of the subterranean world and the unseen maintainers of the planet's equilibrium. Their primary goal is the maintenance and expansion of the Deep-Strands, a project they consider a holy duty to their god, Kurtulmak. They are fiercely protective of their privacy and only interact with the surface when necessary for trade or "resource acquisition" (often interpreted as theft by surface-dwellers).
Structure
The organization is led by the Grand Warren-Master, who oversees a hierarchy of Warren-Lords, each responsible for a specific sector of the Deep-Strands. Below them are the "Strand-Menders" (engineers), "Tunnel-Guardians" (warriors), and "Aether-Siphons" (magical technicians). Decisions are made through the "Accordance," a council of the highest-ranking kobolds who meet in the Warren-Capital.
Technology
The Accord utilizes a unique blend of geothermal power, diverted Aether, and salvaged surface technology. They are masters of trap-making, incorporating magical and mechanical elements that are nearly impossible for outsiders to detect. Their most significant achievement is Aether-glass, which allows them to build structures that can withstand the immense pressure of the deep earth.
Relations
- The Steam Wrights Consortium: The Accord occasionally trades refined minerals for precision gears.
- The Abyssal Fleet: The Accord views the Abyssal Fleet as a threat to their oceanic tunnels and often engages in "silent sabotage" against their ships.
- Surface Governments: Mostly unaware of the Accord's true scale, viewing them only as legendary "tunnel-ghosts."
