Root-Diver Griz

Root-Diver Griz is a wiry and adventurous young Mist-Whisker who has quickly become one of the most successful scavengers in Drift-Haven. An apprentice to the eccentric Scavenger Grix, Griz possesses a natural talent for "Deep-Diving"—the dangerous art of exploring the submerged root-system in search of shipwreck artifacts. He is almost never seen without his patchwork leather diving suit and his trusty harpoon-pistol.

Griz is a mouse of action and curiosity. He is fascinated by the technology of the "Tall Races" and has a particular talent for mechanical intuition, often fixing tools and artifacts that even his master Grix has given up on. He is a frequent resident of the Scavenger's Shanty, where he spends his off-duty hours practicing his diving techniques and studying the blueprints of ancient elven vessels.

Despite his young age, Griz has survived several close encounters with Root-Crabs and Mist-Stalkers, earning him the respect of the older sailors in the Barnacle Market.

Secret Motivation: Griz is secretly searching for a way to breathe underwater permanently. He believes that a pre-flood laboratory is hidden in the Deep-Dive Grotto and that it contains a "Water-Lung" artifact that would allow him to explore the deepest parts of the forest without ever needing to surface.

Adventure Hook: Griz has found a strange, pulsing beacon in a deep-water wreck that seems to be calling to a distant ship. He needs a group of adventurers who can help him defend the wreck from a group of Gilded Corsairs who have also picked up the beacon's signal.
