The Forge-Heart (Steamfort)

Type: City District / Industrial Center Location: The lowest and hottest levels of Steamfort.

The Forge-Heart is the thumping, industrial soul of Steamfort. Carved into the deepest foundations of the mountain, it is a vast cavern filled with massive Aether-Engines, roaring blast furnaces, and the constant, rhythmic thudding of heavy machinery. This district is where the city's raw materials are processed and where its most advanced mechanical marvels are born. The air here is an oppressive mix of soot, steam, and intense heat, making it a place where only dwarves—and the most hardy constructs—can work for extended periods.

The "Great Engine Room," located at the center of the district, houses the primary boilers and Aether-turbines that power the entire city-fortress. The Forge-Heart is also the headquarters of the Ironbeard Syndicate, the council of Forge-Lords who rule Steamfort. Despite its harsh conditions, the district is a place of immense pride for the dwarves, who see it as a testament to their engineering mastery and their victory over the harsh northern environment. The "Smelting Pits," where iron and Aether-crystals are combined into high-strength alloys, are a sight of both terrifying power and industrial beauty.

Plot Hooks:

• The Engine Sabotage: A group of "Gear Grinder" rebels has infiltrated the Great Engine Room and is attempting to shut down the city's primary boilers. The party must stop them before the city loses power and succumbs to the freezing mountain temperatures.
• The Experimental Alloy: House Ironheart needs a group of adventurers to test a new, "unbreakable" alloy in the most extreme conditions imaginable: the heart of the Mana Wastes.
• The Heat-Sink Crisis: The Forge-Heart's cooling systems are failing, leading to a dangerous buildup of thermal energy. The party must travel into the "Ice-Vein" tunnels to repair a series of frozen pipes.
