Security and Defenses: The Arcane Bastion
The Grand Arcane Bank is widely considered the most secure location in Aethervale, outclassing even the royal palaces of Steamfort. Its security is a multi-layered symphony of martial prowess, mechanical ingenuity, and high-tier chronomancy.
1. The Living Wards
The GAB is enveloped in a "Neural Ward" that doesn't just block intruders—it parses their intent. If a creature enters with the intent to steal, the ward triggers a localized "Labyrinth Phantasm," trapping the intruder's mind in an infinite mental maze while their physical body remains paralyzed at the entrance.
2. Guardian Golems: The Adamantine Sentinels
The corridors are patrolled by Galyx-Pattern Sentinels. These are not standard golems; they are powered by captured lightning and encased in adamantine.
- Null-Field Aura: Each sentinel generates a 10-foot radius anti-magic field.
- Adaptive Resistance: If struck by an element (fire, frost, etc.), the sentinel's armor shifts its molecular structure to become immune to that element for one hour.
3. Anti-Magic Zones (AMZs)
The bank utilizes "Dead Magic Ribbons" throughout its structure. These are permanent strips of reality where the weave of magic has been surgically removed.
- The Void Bridge: To reach the main vaults, one must cross a bridge over a 500-foot drop. The bridge is located entirely within an AMZ, meaning any magical flight, invisibility, or feather-fall effects are instantly dispelled.

The main vault door is not opened by a key, but by a "Temporal Sync." The lock exists five seconds into the future. To engage the lock, a High Exchequer must use a specialized chronomancy ritual to reach forward in time and turn the tumblers before they are technically "there."
5. The Biometric Purge
In the event of a total breach, the "Life-Force Siphon" is activated. The air in the vaults is replaced with a gas that reacts to any DNA not registered in the bank's database, causing immediate and painless crystallization of the intruder's blood.
