The Missing Scribe

Location: Thorne’s Library / The Whispering Roots Level Range: 3-5

Background & Objective

Scribe Pip has gone missing while searching for a lost volume of Fog-Tongue scrolls. Elder Thorne believes that Pip may have followed a "Moss-Lure" into the Whispering Roots and is now lost in the psychic static of the singing-moss. The party must track Pip into the roots and rescue him before he is captured by a Mist-Stalker.

The Gimmick: Psychic Static

While in the Whispering Roots, characters must make a DC 13 Wisdom save every hour. On a failure, they hear a constant, distracting whispering that gives them disadvantage on all Perception and Insight checks.

Tactical Combat & Challenges

• Navigating narrow, 2-foot wide root-passages that force Medium-sized creatures to squeeze.
• Resisting the "Bioluminescent Lure" of the moss-drifts.
• Confronting a Mist-Stalker that has been stalking Pip for days.

Narrative Outcomes & Loot

Rescuing Pip earns the permanent gratitude of Elder Thorne and grants the party access to the library's restricted archives. Loot includes Resonant Shells, a Mist-Silk Veil, and a rare Fog-Tongue Dictionary.
