Gate-Keeper Barok

Title: The Reef-Guard
Role: Barok is a massive half-giant who stands guard at the only safe entrance to Crystal Cove. He is armed with a "Anchor-Mace" that can crush a small ship in a single blow. He is a man of simple tastes and intense loyalty to the Pirate Council.

Secret Motivation: Barok is a "Dragon-Spawn"—a mutant created by the Obsidian Scale to serve as a guard. He is beginning to regain his memories of his former life as a simple fisherman and is horrified by what he has become. He is looking for a "Cure" for his mutations and is secretly letting "suspicious" ships into the Cove, hoping that one of them will carry the help he needs.

Adventure Hook: Barok "accidentally" misses a ship full of Inquisitor Nox’s men, who are planning to raid the Cove. He asks the party to help him stop the Inquisitors before the Council finds out about his mistake.
