Copper-Cough

Identity: Guild Leader of the Dust-Walkers Scavenger Guild Location: Fortune's Lake Town

"Copper-Cough" is a grizzled, middle-aged dwarf who earned his nickname from the metallic hacking cough he developed after years of inhaling unrefined Aether-dust in the Mana Wastes. As the leader of the Dust-Walkers, he oversees one of the most successful, yet high-risk, scavenger operations in the region. He is known for his pragmatism, a sharp eye for valuable scrap, and an uncanny ability to predict when a wild magic storm is about to break.

Despite his rough exterior and the dangerous nature of his business, Copper-Cough is fiercely protective of his "Walkers." He runs the guild with a mix of military discipline and familial loyalty, often taking the biggest risks himself. His office in Fortune's Lake Town is a cluttered museum of strange artifacts and half-repaired mechanical curiosities, each with a story of a narrow escape from the Wastes.

Plot Hooks:

  • The Debt: Copper-Cough has a substantial debt to the Grand Arcane Bank that is coming due, and he needs a group of reliable adventurers to pull off a "impossible" recovery mission to settle the score.
  • The Cough's Cure: Copper-Cough's condition is worsening. He believes a specific, rare flower growing in the heart of the Crystalline Gorge holds the cure, but he can no longer make the journey himself.
  • The Rivalry: A new, more ruthless scavenger guild, the Vulture Syndicate, is moving into Dust-Walker territory. Copper-Cough needs the party to send a message and secure his guild's dominance.
