Blind-Cave Fisher

Blind-Cave Fisher
The Blind-Cave Fisher is a specialized predator that has evolved in the pitch-black, forgotten corridors of the Great Network. Neither true spider nor beast, this aberration is a nightmare of chitin and sticky, translucent silk. It spends most of its life clinging to the jagged ceilings of the deep shafts, waiting for the vibrations of passing miners or kobold scouts.
Hunting Methods
The Fisher does not chase its prey. Instead, it "fishes" for it. It secretes several long, incredibly strong filaments that hang like vines from its perch. These filaments are coated in a potent adhesive that bonds instantly to flesh, metal, or cloth. Once a victim is snagged, the Fisher reels them upward, often into a cluster of other waiting filaments that cocoon the prey before the first bite is even taken.
Habitat
While they can be found in any dark cavern, they have become a significant problem in the "Zik-Zik Extensions"—the newer tunnels dug by the Kobold Great-Network. The kobolds often leave these creatures alone, viewing them as a natural "security system" for their secondary tunnels, provided they remember where the "hanging death" resides.
Ecology
Fisher silk is highly prized by Kobold Trapmakers and Aether-Engineers for its tensile strength and adhesive properties. Harvesting it, however, is a suicidal task for all but the most skilled or desperate scavengers.
