Trial Of Cinders Giantfolk

The Trial of Cinders (Giantfolk)
Date: Whenever the volcanic activity of the Northern Wastes peaks Location: The Giantfolk Territories, Northern Continent
Overview
The Trial of Cinders is not a holiday in the traditional sense, but a brutal rite of passage and a religious observance for the Giantfolk of the North-East. It is a celebration of fire, strength, and the elemental forces that shaped the world. Under the influence of Jarl Throm-Ka, it has become a time of preparation for what the giants believe is an impending "World-Fire."
Traditions and Events
The Vent-Walk
Young giants seeking to prove their adulthood must walk barefoot across the active volcanic vents of the Northern Wastes. They must endure the heat without crying out, proving their resilience to the elements. Those who succeed are branded with a "Cinder-Mark," a permanent scar that denotes their status as a warrior.
Wrestling the Magma
The most powerful warriors compete in "Magma Wrestling." Using magical protection provided by their shamans, the giants wrestle elementals summoned from the Plane of Fire. The goal is to subdue the elemental and force it back into the volcanic depths.
The Great Feast of Roast Mammoth
Following the trials, the clans gather for a massive feast. Hundreds of mammoths and other tundra beasts are roasted over open lava pits. It is a time of loud chanting, drum-beating, and the retelling of the "Sagas of the First Brood"—tales of the ancient giants who fought alongside dragons.
Daily Life During the Trial
The atmosphere in the Giantfolk territories is one of aggressive energy. Smelters work overtime to create massive weapons and armor, and the air is thick with the scent of sulfur and roasting meat. Shamanic chanting can be heard day and night, calling upon the spirits of fire to grant the clans strength.
The Influence of Ignis-Kaan
In recent years, the Trial of Cinders has taken on a darker tone. The whispers of the Red Dragon Ignis-Kaan have convinced many giants that the other races of Aethervale are "Cold-Blooded Leeches" who must be purged by fire. The festival now often concludes with a series of raids on the coastal settlements of the North.
