The Rusty Gear

Type: Tavern / Social Hub Location: The Iron Tier, Steamfort

The Rusty Gear is the unofficial heart of the working-class community in Steamfort. Built into a large, repurposed gear-grinding chamber, its most unique feature is the floor: a series of massive, slowly rotating brass gears that patrons must navigate to reach the bar. The atmosphere is loud, soot-stained, and filled with the constant rhythmic clanging of the nearby Forge-Heart. It is the place where miners, factory workers, and apprentice engineers come to blow off steam and share stories of their daily struggles.

The tavern is owned by "Bellows" Brunt, a retired forge-worker with a booming voice and a missing arm replaced by a functional (if clunky) steam-powered prosthetic. The signature drink is Steam-Pipe Stout, a dark, smoky beer that is served warm and has a reputation for being "liquid hard work." The Rusty Gear is also a known meeting place for the "Gear Grinders," and the walls are often covered with pamphlets and posters advocating for worker's rights and criticizing the Syndicate's control over Aether-crystals.

Plot Hooks:

• The Gear Jam: The tavern's rotating floor has jammed, trapping a high-ranking Syndicate official in a precarious position. The party must fix the gears while dealing with the mockery of the tavern's patrons.
• The Secret Meeting: The party is hired to protect a Gear Grinder organizer during a secret meeting at The Rusty Gear. They must identify and neutralize Syndicate spies among the tavern's regular customers.
• The Bellows' Debt: Brunt's prosthetic arm has been seized by a debt collector. The party must either pay off the debt or pull off a daring recovery mission to get the arm back for the old dwarf.
