Steamfort Dungeons

One-Page Dungeons: Steamfort
The Industrial Powerhouse of the North. These dungeons feature volatile Aether-steam, grinding gears, and rogue dwarven engineering.
1. The Pressure Cooker
- Level Range: 5-6
- The Gimmick: Venting Cycles. At the top of every round, one of four quadrants in the room vents superheated steam (4d6 fire damage). Players can see which quadrant is next by checking "Pressure Gauges" as a free action.
- Tactical Combat/Challenge: Fighting "Steam-Mephits" that can spend their action to force a vent cycle early. Players must use the environment to push Mephits into the steam.
- The Loot: Huge Throbbing Treasure: The Valve-Turner’s Bracers. Grants the wearer the ability to cast Fog Cloud at will and resistance to fire. Found inside a sealed pressure vessel along with 3,000 GP in raw iron-ingots.
2. Scrapheap Alpha
- Level Range: 7-8
- The Gimmick: Magnetic Reconstitution. Every time a construct is "killed," its parts fly toward the "Junk-King" in the center, healing it. Players must use cold damage to "freeze" the metal or move the parts 30+ feet away.
- Tactical Combat/Challenge: A boss fight against the "Junk-King," a massive amalgam of discarded Aether-engines. It has a gravity-pull ability that brings players (and scrap) closer every turn.
- The Loot: Huge Throbbing Treasure: The Core of the First Engine. A pulsating Aether-crystal that can power any vehicle or stronghold indefinitely. Worth 8,000 GP to the Ironbeard Syndicate.
3. The Hissing Halls
- Level Range: 6-7
- The Gimmick: Aether-Hallucinations. The leaking steam is laced with raw, unrefined Aether. Every turn, players must pass a DC 13 Wisdom save or see their allies as "Rogue Automatons."
- Tactical Combat/Challenge: Fighting "Mirror-Drones" that reflect the last spell or attack used against them. The challenge is distinguishing real enemies from hallucinations and handling the reflective damage.
- The Loot: Huge Throbbing Treasure: The Goggles of Clear Sight. Allows the wearer to see through any gas, fog, or illusion. Hidden in a technician's locker with 4,500 GP in Steamfort Scrip.
4. Piston-Pounder Foundry
- Level Range: 9-10
- The Gimmick: Vertical Displacement. The floor consists of 5x5 foot pistons that rise and fall 20 feet every round. Falling off a piston into the "Crusher Pit" below is instant 10d6 bludgeoning damage.
- Tactical Combat/Challenge: Combat against "Clockwork Harpies" that try to grapple players and drop them into the pits. The environment is the primary enemy here.
- The Loot: Huge Throbbing Treasure: The Piston-Boots. Allows the user to jump 3x their normal distance and deal an extra 2d8 damage when landing on a creature. Includes a chest of 7,000 GP and 5 "Raw Aether-Fuel Shards" (500 GP each).
5. The Ironheart Core
- Level Range: 10-11
- The Gimmick: System Overload. The dungeon is the interior of a crashing Dreadnought. The gravity shifts 90 degrees every 2 rounds. Walls become floors, and floors become walls.
- Tactical Combat/Challenge: A desperate fight against the "Core Guardian," a Shield Guardian modified with a "Shrapnel Blast" ability. Players must defeat it before the ship hits the ground (10 round timer).
- The Loot: Huge Throbbing Treasure: A Shard of the Crown of Cinders. One of the legendary artifacts of the First Brood. It radiates heat and grants immunity to fire. Also, 12,000 GP in salvaged military tech and platinum bars.
