Scribe Alaric the Silent

Scribe Alaric the Silent
Title: Keeper of the Forbidden Archives
Role: Alaric is a human who has lived among the dwarves for forty years. He is the only non-dwarf allowed into the "Forbidden Archives," where the most dangerous and controversial records of Dal-Dur’s history are kept. He is a man of vast knowledge and even greater secrecy, having taken a vow of silence to protect the archives’ contents.
Secret Motivation: Alaric has discovered evidence that the "War of Sunder" was not a war between mages and industry, but a civil war among the First Brood, with the humanoid races serving as nothing more than cannon fodder. He has found a map to the "Dragon-King’s Sepulcher" and believes that the "original treaty" between dragons and humanoids is buried there. He is looking for someone to help him break his vow and reveal the truth.
Adventure Hook: Alaric sends the party a series of cryptic messages written in an ancient dwarven dialect. The messages lead them to a hidden entrance to the archives, where Alaric is waiting with a "mission of global importance."
Ideals & Flaws
Ideals: Knowledge must be preserved at any cost, regardless of the personal consequences.

Rumors & Whispers
- True Rumor: Alaric possesses a key forged from dragon bone that can open any lock within the Forbidden Archives.
- False Rumor: Alaric is actually an ancient gold dragon in human form, cursed to never speak his true name.
