Doc Cog

Title: The Aether-Surgeon
Role: Doc Cog is a human doctor who specializes in "Aether-netics"—the integration of mechanical parts with living flesh. He runs a clinic in the industrial district, treating workers who have lost limbs in refinery accidents. He is a man of science who believes that the line between man and machine is meant to be blurred.

Secret Motivation: Doc Cog is secretly experimenting with "Void-Grafts"—cybernetic limbs powered by Void-Shards. He believes that the Void can provide an infinite source of energy, but his patients are starting to exhibit strange behaviors, including "whispering" to shadows and developing a hunger for raw Aether. He is obsessed with his work and is blind to the danger he is creating.

Adventure Hook: One of Doc Cog’s patients "transforms" into a void-horror in the middle of the street. The party must stop the creature and then track down the "doctor" who created it.
