Archmage Orion was once a respected, if somewhat unorthodox, scholar at the Grand Academy of Kigum. Today, he is widely regarded as a brilliant madman. His singular obsession is the geometric stability of the Aether-nodes that power the city.

Background

Orion believes he has discovered a fundamental flaw in the mathematical models used to construct the city's magical infrastructure. He claims that unless the nodes are realigned according to a complex, multi-dimensional geometric pattern he has devised, they will eventually undergo a catastrophic cascade failure.

Appearance and Personality

He is a frantic, disheveled man with wild hair and ink-stained fingers. He speaks in rapid-fire bursts of highly technical jargon, often trailing off mid-sentence to furiously scribble equations on whatever surface is nearest—including his own robes, walls, or the occasional passerby.

Role

Orion can serve as a quest giver for high-level magical anomalies or as an eccentric source of information regarding the city's ancient magical history. However, his "solutions" to problems often involve dangerously experimental and highly explosive magical procedures.
