The Null-Spawn

Ecology
The Null-Spawn are parasitic aberrations that flake off the hide of the mutated Aether-Blind Borer as it tunnels through the earth. They exist as small, twitching masses of void-energy and corrupted, translucent flesh. They do not eat in the traditional sense, instead feeding on the magical resonance and spell energy of creatures near their host.
Combat Mechanics
The Null-Spawn hunt in packs, utilizing a "Mana-Drain" aura that dampens the magical abilities of nearby casters. When a Null-Spawn hits a target, it can consume a low-level spell slot, using the energy to temporarily increase its own size and damage. If the target has no spell slots, the attack deals additional force damage. They are highly resistant to magical damage but are surprisingly vulnerable to mundane physical attacks.
Loot
Upon death, a Null-Spawn dissolves into a pile of "Null-Dust." This substance is highly prized by alchemists for the creation of anti-magic grenades and lead-lined storage containers for volatile Aether.
