Innate Spellcasting (1/Day).The book can cast Magic Missile (at 1st level).

Ecology

Animated Spellbooks are high-level arcane repositories that have gained a rudimentary sentience and mobility through decades of exposure to concentrated magical fields. They are most commonly found in the restricted sections of Kigum’s magical academies or guarding the studies of powerful archmages.

Combat Mechanics

An Animated Spellbook can cast a single spell (typically Magic Missile, Shield, or Shocking Grasp) once per round as a bonus action, using its creator's spell save DC. It attacks by slamming into targets or delivering "Paper-Cut" strikes that deal 1d4 slashing damage and can disrupt concentration. It is resistant to psychic damage and can fly up to 30 feet per round.

Loot

If defeated without being incinerated, the book may still contain readable "Scribed Spells." A successful Arcana check (DC 15) allows a wizard to copy one or two random spells of 1st-3rd level into their own spellbook.
